Adjustment Techniques Used at Seaside Chiropractic
We’re proud to offer a range of techniques to meet every patient’s comfort level and condition. Here’s a look at the different styles we provide:
Diversified Technique (Traditional Chiropractic)
The most common form of chiropractic adjustment, Diversified uses a quick, precise thrust to restore motion in a joint. Dr. Jesse primarily uses this method, which is ideal for addressing everything from low back stiffness to neck pain and rib dysfunction.
Sacral Occipital Technique (SOT)
SOT is a gentle, low-force technique that focuses on restoring balance between the base of the spine (sacrum) and the skull (occiput). It uses specific blocks and breathing patterns to influence spinal alignment and nervous system function. This approach is preferred by Dr. Malea, Dr. Leslie, and Dr. Lu—especially for patients who prefer more subtle methods of care.
Cox Flexion-Distraction
Ideal for disc-related issues and nerve compression, the Cox technique uses a specialized table to gently stretch and decompress the spine. It’s especially helpful for patients with herniated discs, sciatica, or spinal stenosis. This technique is available to all patients regardless of provider.
Thompson Technique (Drop Table)
This method uses a table with built-in drop sections that gently assist the adjustment. The quick drop allows for lighter force, making it comfortable and effective—especially for pelvic, lumbar, and mid-back areas. Dr. Leslie and Dr. Malea use this technique regularly, and Dr. Jesse utilizes it to a lesser extent when clinically appropriate.
Pediatric Chiropractic
Chiropractic care for children is safe, gentle, and specifically tailored to their growing bodies. Dr. Malea and Dr. Lauren are specially trained to care for infants and kids, using soft touch techniques to help with common issues like torticollis, latch challenges, digestive concerns, and postural development.
